How Shockwave Therapy Tightens & Rejuvenates Facial Skin

Shockwave therapy triggers your skin's natural regenerative processes. Unlike treatments that damage skin to stimulate healing, shockwaves work by mechanically stimulating cells to produce more collagen and improve circulation—without causing injury.

Collagen Stimulation

Shockwave activates fibroblasts, the cells responsible for producing collagen and elastin. This triggers neocollagenesis, the formation of new collagen fibers that provide structure and firmness to the skin.

Enhanced Microcirculation

Shockwaves improve blood flow to treated areas, delivering more oxygen and nutrients to skin cells. Better circulation supports cellular metabolism, waste removal, and gives skin a healthier, more radiant appearance.

Lymphatic Drainage

The mechanical stimulation improves lymphatic flow, reducing puffiness and fluid retention. This helps define facial contours and reduces that 'tired' or bloated appearance many people experience.

Tissue Remodeling

Over time, the treatment encourages reorganization of existing collagen fibers into more youthful, organized patterns. This gradual remodeling creates natural-looking improvement that develops over weeks

Skin Tightening Evidence

Clinical studies on acoustic wave therapy for skin demonstrate improvements in skin elasticity, firmness, and texture. The treatment stimulates dermal remodeling without the thermal injury associated with laser treatments.

Combined Treatment Potential

Research shows acoustic wave therapy can enhance results when combined with other aesthetic treatments, potentially improving the penetration and efficacy of topical products applied afterward.

Treatment Sessions

You'll recline comfortably while the clinician applies the acoustic wave device to targeted areas of your face and neck. The sensation is a gentle tapping or vibration and most patients find it quite comfortable and even relaxing.  Sessions are 20 to 30 minutes.

Recovery

There's no downtime whatsoever. You might notice slight redness that fades within an hour. You can apply makeup and return to all normal activities immediately and even attend an event that same day.

Results Timeline

Some patients notice improved radiance and reduced puffiness after the first session. Collagen-building effects develop gradually over 4-12 weeks as new fibers form. Results continue improving even after your treatment series ends.

How many sessions will I need?

Generally, to achieve optimal results, you will require 6 to 8 sessions.  We recommend 1 session per week for 6 to 8 weeks.

How long will your results last?

Results from acoustic wave therapy develop gradually and can last 12-18 months because you're building actual collagen. Of course, natural aging continues, so many patients do periodic maintenance sessions (quarterly or semi-annually) to sustain and build on their results.

Can you combine this with other treatments?

Absolutely. Shockwave therapy can complement facials, microneedling, chemical peels, injectables, and even laser treatments. Some patients use it to enhance product penetration immediately after treatment. We can help design a comprehensive approach based on your goals.

What areas can be treated?

We treat the full face, jawline, neck, and décolletage (chest area). Common focus areas include the cheeks, jowls, under-chin area, and neck. The treatment can be customized to address your specific concerns.

When will I see results?

Many patients notice improved radiance and reduced puffiness immediately due to enhanced circulation and lymphatic drainage. The collagen-building effects develop over 4-12 weeks. Most patients see noticeable improvement after 3-4 sessions, with results continuing to improve for 2-3 months after completing treatment.
